Providenta

***Originally sent as an email newsletter on November 8, 2022

Hello Friends, I pray that you are doing well and are reminded regularly of God's faithfulness! As I prepare to move to Romania, I want to share with you about the church that God has provided for me to attend in Brasov, which is even named after the Providence of God! Over the last years, God has been reforming my faith and theology to align them with the truth of His Word and the Biblical Gospel. While on this journey, God brought me to Reformed theology and the sermons and ministries of many men of God, but especially Paul Washer and HeartCry Missionary Society. HeartCry is a mission organization that supports primarily indigenous pastors, church planters, and evangelists who are preaching exegetically from the Bible and sharing the Biblical Gospel with people around the world. As I learned more about HeartCry, I saw that they have had a strong presence in Romania for over 25 years, and that the church planter who is the Eastern European coordinator for HeartCry has planted and pastors a church in the heart of Brasov, Providenta Church! I knew then that God was at work and that He was continuing to open doors for me in Romania. Before my trip to Brasov in May, I reached out to this pastor, Sorin Prodan, and arranged to meet with him and another Baptist pastor from a nearby town who is serving people with disabilities. I was so encouraged by our meeting and was invited to attend the church when I move to Brasov and to visit during my trip. At Providenta Church, I met warm-hearted, Godly people who appeared to live lives devoted to Christ and heard a sermon clearly explaining the Word of God. Since Sorin's wife is American and there are other international members of the church, English translation was even provided through radio headsets. I am so very grateful for God's provision of a Biblical church to attend and become involved with in the town that He is sending me! Providenta Church is highly involved in church planting and evangelism, and I pray for the opportunity to serve with them in their current ministries and would love to connect the people that I will be ministering to with FFR to Providenta Church or to their church plant in a Roma village. I know that I have a lot to learn from them. In September of this year, I was excited to see that HeartCry Missionary Society was highlighting the work that God is doing in Brasov county! Their quarterly magazine featured many stories about Pastor Sorin, Providenta Church, and the church plant that they are starting in the Roma village of Zizin. Please read the stories and see beautiful pictures of what God is doing through Providenta Church here: HeartCry Magazine - Romania: From Communism to Christ. In addition to the magazine articles, HeartCry also put together a video sharing beautiful footage of Brasov and an update from Pastor Sorin about what God is doing in this city and the surrounding area, which you can see below.

If you would also like to learn more about the heart and the testimonies of the pastors at Providenta Church, please see the videos below:

So that tickets can be purchased and final arrangements be made, I am praying for 85% of my monthly support to be committed to 2 months prior to moving, while still continuing to prepare to move at the end of January. To cover living and ministry expenses, I have an approved monthly budget of $3,000, of which $874 is committed to currently. I am also praying for an additional $2,250 in one-time gifts to cover initial expenses.

Praise God:

  • for the open doors that He has provided for me to minister with Firm Foundations Romania and that they are willing and eager to host this mission of using Occupational Therapy to share the Gospel and help bring transformation.

  • for the opportunity to attend and get involved at Providenta Church!!

  • for sending me a couple new monthly supporters and encouraging friends to give one-time gifts as well!

  • that my wonderful church here in Colorado has agreed to be my sending church! I am very thankful for their leadership and covering as God sends me to Brasov!!

Prayer requests:

  • 85% of monthly support committed to by the end of November, if it is the Lord's will for me to move at the end of January

  • Grace and wisdom to complete the tasks and projects required before moving

  • Open hearts to hear and receive the Gospel in Romania

  • Opportunities and God's leading to minister to abandoned children

  • Open doors to visit the children with disabilities in the institution again

  • Housing in Brasov

  • Grace to become fluent in Romanian

Thank you very much! Your support, prayers, and encouragement mean the world to me.
